Other Tales: Shocking Turns
Happy Thanksgiving, everybody American readers! Here’s the fourth incentive story… you folks passed $1,000 this past weekend, putting us now more than a third of the way to the promised Aidan story. I would have had this ready for you earlier but something came up. Repeatedly. Nasty bug going around here. I’m thankful I didn’t catch it a few days later, or else I’d be having a very poor holiday.
I’m having some family time right now. Check back Monday for the next regular update.

An Infernal Interrogation
Author’s Note: This is the third incentive story, concerning a demonblood professor at MU. I’ll be tagging this one later so that the tags don’t spoil, in case anybody’s guessing.

Draconian Laws
Notes From The Author:
I hope you enjoy the little snippet after the cut. I also hope you’ve been enjoying the recent run of “stories in which the plot advances in a visible and meaningful way”. Actually, I know a lot of you have been enjoying them because you’ve taken the time to tell me. I really appreciate that… trying different things is always a little nerve-wracking, especially when it feels like you’ve done the same thing for so long.
I also appreciate the way my audience has stuck by me during the period of adjustment that started this past summer and is still sort of ongoing. I’ve got a better handle on my physical and mental health than I’ve had for years, though the basic causes are still underlying there and always will be.
I apologize to anyone who doesn’t know what I’m talking about, but I always feel awkward interrupting the story to talk about my personal life and well-being when I have a blog. The short version of it (Conciseness? From me?) is that I live with a mitochondrial disorder and my old standby strategy of “ignoring it” has stopped working.
It’s okay, though. I’m dealing with it now. My long period of diminished activity has left my writing muscles badly in need of reconditioning… you’ll see updates becoming more frequent again as I get back in shape, and hopefully there will be less yo-yoing as I get more in touch with how my mind and body work. I say “hopefully” because that might just be how things are. I guess we’ll find out together.
The other stories will get activity, too, but I’m rethinking my approaches to them… I feel the more thoughtful, measured approach I’ve been taking to MU could benefit them as well.
Anyway, I’m overwhelmed by how steady you the readership have been in your support during this time. The site’s getting fewer hits per week because there’s new stuff to read less often, but it’s still about the same number of people checking, and the sponsorship has remained about the same. Those of you who have felt the need to end your sponsorship during this period of diminished activity, I don’t blame you… but those of you who have remained, I really appreciate it.
I’ve got some new expenses that need to be taken care of… some big one-time things and some smaller ongoing ones, and so I’m going to be doing a little fundraising push at the same time that I’m ramping my writing back up. There will be more details about that after the story.
Enjoy!

A Short Interlude With A Golem Girl
A Note From The Author:
Hey, folks… no, it’s not the continuation of the cliffhanger. Things are looking good for that to be done this week—likely Friday night—but the drama’s been coming kind of hard and heavy in the main story and it’s not likely to let up any time soon, so here’s a little vignette featuring some fan favorites. It takes place earlier before the Veil Dance. It’s not much, but I think people will enjoy it all the same.
Check back tomorrow for another vignette and a few more words from me.

Other Tales: Two Dee View
As promised, here’s a look at Two’s pre-MU existence… this story was earned through the efforts of everybody who supported traditional print author’s Catherynne M. Valente first steps into self-directed e-publishing. Her second step launched less than an hour ago: The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland In A Ship of Her Own Making, a web serial fueled by donations. She’s even got the first chapter up in audio form. Go ahead and check it out.
Speaking of support… I could use some myself. The middle of the month is a slow period for sponsorships compared to the end/beginning, and I do have bills that fall due around this time. Please consider creating a sponsorship or making a one-time payment. Thank you!
