This is part one of (probably) three. I’m receptive to reader input on whether to make the next two bonus stories the continuations of this, or to spread them out more. Thanks to everybody who’s been donating, and please enjoy.
Enjoy!

Here it is, this week’s bonus story. With no clear frontrunner except Barley, I tried to combine a couple of requests. Next week I may try to do something for the “parental” crowd. Enjoy, and thanks for the support.

We interrupt this Sunday to bring you breaking news… Book 5: The Weekend Shift is now available at my Lulu.com store.
To celebrate finally getting it done, I’m cutting the price of ebook downloads (in PDF format) by 50% for the next two weeks. That’s $1.25 each instead of $2.50. However, every silver lining must have a cloud… in two weeks, when the price on the ebooks goes back up, I’m also going to be raising the prices of the printed compilations by a dollar. So, if you’ve been thinking about buying the books, now’s the time.
I’ve been getting a lot of questions about “Book 6″, which not only has no title but is longer than all the other books put together. Essentially, I made a weird judgment call there and decided to do an experiment… I decided that due to the “ongoing” nature of Tales of MU, it might work to let the story play out and see where the most natural divisions for books would come after the fact. Looking back, I have to say: experiment failed. Not having even the rudimentary arbitrary divisions in story arcs that the previous five books had has made it easier for the story elements to bunch up like they have, and made it hard to spot the logical divisions between them.
So, I’m going to change the category tag from “book 6″ to “bookX”… old links should still work, as Wordpress is clever that way… and after the current storyline is over (the date with Sooni), I’m going to be drawing a line and changing the way things work going forward. It will still be the same Tales of MU. I’m not retconning anything away. But I’m going to be doing more organizing in advance and work to prune the number of plot threads feeding into the loom at one time. It’s still going to be “looser” and “busier” than your average, more tightly plotted novel, because I’m not interested in writing that and I have to believe, 280 chapters in, that most of you don’t want a drastic change.
But I’m going to try to make things more manageable.
As always, thank you for reading.
