Want More?
Apparently, I really can’t emphasize this enough, because I’m still hearing from people who only now stumbled across it and want to know why they weren’t informed… or running into people and realizing that they just plain don’t know about it. I’ve been asked to make another announcement so that everybody knows about it.

Basically, it’s an extension of one of the ideas behind the bonus stories: showing the world from another angle. I think everybody who’s read through 245 chapters realizes by now that Mackenzie’s viewpoint is often as limited and flawed as any real human being’s. The way she describes the world around her often tells you more about her than it does the world… which is fine, except insofar as it doesn’t tell you as much about the world as it could.
So, this story follows another student through the course of the same academic year. As a different character housed in a different building and going to different classes with a different perspective and a different set of biases, More Tales of MU reveals additional details about the world, setting, and events already detailed in MU. It’s the same universe, viewed through a different window. If you’re not satisfied with the details of skirmish that can be gleaned from Mackenzie’s narrative*, for instance, his provides a slightly different perspective on the game.
Oh, and fair warning, as at least one reader took “different sort of story” to mean “no sex”: it’s still Tales of MU. There’s less angst and turmoil. The conflicts the protagonist experiences are more social/cultural than sexual/emotional. But there’s still sex.
*Specifically, that it’s a stupid jerky game played by jerks who are stupid.
